Green is the new orange which was the new black. Recent
research finds that living in or near green spaces, such as city parks, can
make us healthier. City View TV invited you to go green.
A leading U.S. university found that women living in the
greenest areas, those surrounded by trees, plants, were 34 percent less likely
to pass on from respiratory illness than women living in concrete spaces, like
big cities. They were also less likely to die from cancer. People who get
outside and enjoy nature have better mental health than those that do not.
It is long known that trees, plants and shrubs absorb some
air and noise pollution. A small city
park can do wonders for residents that live in cemented in areas. Nature walks
are good for the mind and body. It reminds that we are alive and well. If there are no parks nearby, consider making
a small green space on balconies, patios and porches. Plant a small tree someplace where it will
flourish. A pygmy date palm tree is the perfect size and a lovely, tropical
green to have nearby.
City View TV invites readers to go green. Go outside and appreciate
the trees planted around town to beautify it. Walk through the grass. Take a
walk on the “wild side” in a city park or in a local nature walk area. Your mind and body will thank you. Go home
then and plant a tree or shrub. The added exercise will be most beneficial.
